Push invoices into Xero
Connect your Xero organisation once from Settings, and any Billbooks invoice can be pushed into Xero with its client and line items intact. Your accountant sees it where they already work.
It is a push you trigger, not a silent background sync. That is deliberate. A background sync means anything you draft, edit or void in one system quietly changes the other, and reconciling that at quarter end is worse than the double entry it saved you. You decide what goes across, and when.
The connection is per organisation, so an agency running books for more than one entity keeps them separate rather than pooling them into one ledger.
Billbooks is not a replacement for Xero
Worth being direct about this, because we also publish a comparison page and an alternatives guide. Xero is accounting software: the ledger, bank reconciliation, GST and BAS, the thing your accountant lives in. Billbooks is where the quote gets built, the invoice gets sent, and the payment gets chased.
They are different jobs. The integration exists so the invoice only has to be entered once, in the tool built for raising it, and still ends up in the books.

Connect anything with Zapier
Zapier connects Billbooks to thousands of other apps without writing any code. Two directions are available.
Billbooks can start a Zap when a new invoice, estimate, client or expense is created. That covers the "when something happens here, do something over there" half: post to a channel when an invoice goes out, add a row to a sheet, create a task when an estimate is accepted.
Zapier can also create records in Billbooks: an invoice, an estimate, a client, an expense or an item. That covers the other half, where a form submission, a CRM deal or a spreadsheet row becomes a real document without anyone retyping it.
You connect on the Zapier side using a Billbooks API key, which you create in Settings.
Build your own with the API
The Billbooks REST API covers invoices, estimates, clients, items, expenses, expense categories and taxes, plus an endpoint for the authenticated account itself. Authentication is an API key you create and can revoke, and the key list shows when each one was last used so you can spot a key nothing is using any more.

Which one do you want?
If your books are in Xero, use the Xero connector. It is the shortest path and it is the one your accountant will thank you for.
If the thing you want to connect is not accounting software, use Zapier. It is the fastest way to wire Billbooks to a CRM, a form, a spreadsheet or a chat tool without anyone writing code.
If you need something specific enough that neither of those covers it, use the API. Custom internal tooling, a bulk import, or your own product talking to Billbooks directly all sit here.

QuickBooks is not available yet. Xero is the accounting integration today, and the connector framework was built to take more than one, so this is a question of when rather than whether.
