GST-ready invoicing for Indian businesses

Invoicing in India means more than a nice template. Your invoices need to be GST-compliant, carry HSN or SAC codes, split the tax correctly, and increasingly support e-invoicing and UPI. Billbooks handles the compliance so you can focus on getting paid.

Built for how you invoice

Correct GST on every line

Choose the rate per item and Billbooks splits the tax into CGST, SGST or IGST based on the place of supply, so your invoices stay compliant.

UPI QR to get paid faster

Add a UPI QR code to the invoice so clients scan and pay instantly, and connect a gateway for cards and net banking.

Return-ready invoices

Sequential numbering, HSN and SAC codes, and your GSTIN on every invoice, so your data lines up when you file.

How GST works on your invoices

GST is a destination-based tax. On sales within a state you charge CGST plus SGST; on inter-state sales you charge IGST. Since the September 2025 rate rationalisation, the two main slabs are 5% and 18%, with a special 40% rate on luxury and sin goods and a nil rate on many essentials. The rate depends on the item, identified by its HSN or SAC code, so each invoice line needs the correct rate and the right tax split based on the place of supply. Businesses above the government e-invoicing turnover threshold must also generate an e-invoice with a signed QR code.

What a GST tax invoice must include

Under Rule 46 of the CGST Rules, a valid GST tax invoice must carry these details. Billbooks fills them in for you on every invoice.

Supplier name, address and GSTIN
A unique serial number per financial year (up to 16 characters)
Date of issue
Recipient name, address and GSTIN, if registered
HSN code for goods or SAC code for services
Description, quantity and unit of the items
Taxable value after any discount
Tax rate and amount, split into CGST, SGST or IGST
Place of supply, with the state name
Whether tax is payable on reverse charge
Signature or digital signature of the supplier

GST-ready invoicing that gets you paid faster.
